Living With Freddie

When Anna Heyward brought home a rescue dog, she thought it would be a simple addition to her life. Instead, the dog, Freddie, began displaying strange behavior; he was unable to be alone without howling, pacing, and injuring himself. In the months that followed, Anna became obsessed with trying to “fix” Freddie, putting her relationship, social life, and job at risk.

As Anna observed Freddie's behavior, she began to change—but not in the way you might expect. Living with Freddie is a story about how much we can—or should—try to alter another being's behavior, and what is possible to know about another being. But at its heart, this is a beautiful, heart-wrenching portrait of the relationship between a human and a dog.
