Pearl O’Reilly is twenty-seven (nearly twenty-eight). She likes salmon pink, the number three, and going to the pub with her best friend Una the same night each week. Only, Pearl’s not in the pub now. She is, in fact, in a hostel in New Zealand, struggling to count her way downstairs without a (totally inappropriate) intrusive thought forcing her to go back and start all over again.
