Animal Farm begins when the animals of Manor Farm overthrow their human owner, Mr. Jones, after years of neglect and mistreatment. Led by the pigs Snowball and Napoleon and inspired by the ideals of the old boar Major, the animals establish their own society based on equality, cooperation, and shared labor. Renaming the property Animal Farm, they set out to create a better life free from human control.
In the years that follow, the farm experiences both successes and setbacks as the animals work to maintain their new community. However, struggles for leadership emerge, and the pigs gradually assume greater authority over the other animals. As Napoleon consolidates power and the principles of the revolution begin to change, the animals find that the society they created is becoming increasingly different from the one they originally envisioned. Through the rise and transformation of Animal Farm, the novel traces the fate of a revolution and the consequences of unchecked power.
