Nineteen Eighty-Four

Nineteen Eighty-Four is set in Oceania, a totalitarian state ruled by the Party and its elusive leader, Big Brother. Winston Smith works at the Ministry of Truth, where his job is to alter historical records so that the Party always appears infallible. Although outwardly obedient, Winston secretly despises the regime and begins questioning the system of constant surveillance, censorship, and control that governs every aspect of life.

Winston's quiet rebellion deepens when he begins a forbidden relationship with Julia, a fellow Party member who shares his dissatisfaction with the regime. Together they seek moments of freedom in a society where independent thought is considered a crime. As they search for a way to resist the Party's power, they are drawn into a dangerous struggle against a system that demands absolute loyalty and seeks control not only over actions, but over memory, truth, and reality itself.
