Award

The Lost Man Booker Prize

The Lost Man Booker Prize was a one-time special award created in 2010 to recognize the best novel published in 1970, a year that was inadvertently excluded from consideration when the rules of the Booker Prize changed in 1971.

Originally, the Booker Prize was awarded to books published in the previous year. When the rules shifted to honor books published in the same year as the award, novels released in 1970 fell between the two systems and were never eligible. To correct this historical oversight, the Booker Prize organizers convened a retrospective panel in 2010 to select a winner from books published in 1970.

The award was presented once and will not recur.
