Dave Portnoy

David Scott "Dave" Portnoy is an American entrepreneur, media personality, and author best known as the founder of Barstool Sports, a digital media company focused on sports, entertainment, and popular culture. Born in Massachusetts, he graduated from the University of Michigan before working in market research. In 2003, he launched Barstool Sports as a free print newspaper covering sports betting and fantasy sports for Boston commuters. What began as a local publication evolved into one of the most influential digital sports media brands in the United States, with millions of followers across its websites, podcasts, and social media platforms.

Portnoy became the public face of Barstool through his outspoken personality, sports commentary, and viral One Bite Pizza Reviews, which helped transform him into a prominent internet personality.
