Susan Wiggs is an American novelist whose bestselling fiction blends romance, women's fiction, and historical storytelling with themes of family, resilience, and second chances. Born in Olean, New York, she developed a love of reading and storytelling from an early age. She earned a degree from Harvard University before spending several years teaching mathematics in California. While teaching, she began writing novels in her spare time, eventually leaving education to pursue writing as a full-time career after the success of her early books.

Wiggs first found success writing historical romances before expanding into contemporary women's fiction, where she became one of the genre's most recognizable authors. Over the course of her career, she has published more than fifty novels, many of which have appeared on The New York Times bestseller list. Among her best-known series are Lakeshore Chronicles, Bella Vista Chronicles, The Tudor Rose Trilogy, and The Switchback, Vermont novels. Her fiction is celebrated for its richly developed characters, emotionally resonant relationships, and evocative settings, often exploring themes of forgiveness, healing, and the importance of community.

A recipient of numerous honors, including the Romance Writers of America RITA Award and induction into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame, Wiggs has become one of the leading voices in contemporary women's fiction. Her novels have been translated into multiple languages and continue to attract readers around the world through stories that balance romance, family drama, and historical detail with warmth and optimism.
