Eleanor Catton is a novelist and screenwriter known for her ambitious, intricately structured fiction. She was born in Canada and raised in New Zealand, where she is most closely associated. She studied creative writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters in Wellington.

Catton gained international recognition with her second novel The Luminaries (2013), which won the Booker Prize, making her the youngest winner in the prize’s history.
