Monika Kim is a Korean American writer known for her dark, provocative psychological horror. A second-generation immigrant based in Los Angeles, her work often draws on her cultural background, incorporating elements of Korean folklore, superstition, and the Asian American experience into contemporary storytelling. 

She gained significant attention with her debut novel The Eyes Are the Best Part, which became a bestseller and received major critical recognition, including a Bram Stoker Award for a first novel. Her writing is noted for its bold, unsettling tone and its exploration of themes such as identity, gender, and the complexities of family dynamics. 

Outside of fiction, Kim works in environmental justice, focusing on outreach and education for underserved communities. Her dual focus on social issues and storytelling shapes her voice as an author, blending sharp social awareness with intense, psychologically driven narratives.
