Takuya Asakura

Takuya Asakura is a Japanese novelist and translator whose fiction blends mystery, emotional drama, and elements of magical realism. Born in Sapporo and educated at the University of Tokyo, he first gained national recognition after winning the inaugural This Mystery Is Amazing! Grand Prize for his novel The Miracle of Four Days. The novel became a major bestseller in Japan and was later adapted into a feature film, establishing him as a prominent voice in contemporary Japanese fiction.

In addition to writing novels, Asakura has built a respected career as a literary translator, introducing English-language works to Japanese readers. He translated The Midnight Library by Matt Haig into Japanese and has translated several other internationally acclaimed books.
